ARDA held a meeting to present progress, discuss and exchange ideas of research plan on “Policy Research for Food System Development of Thailand”

On August 18, 2021, Agricultural Research Development Agency (Public Organization) or ARDA held a meeting to present progress, discuss and exchange ideas of research plan on "Policy research for food system development in Thailand" by researchers from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, National Science and Technology Development Agency, Mahidol University, and Kasetsart University to report progress of the project. In this meeting, there is a panel of experts and people involved in the Food System of Thailand from many sectors, such as Prof. Dr. Kraisit. Tanti Siririn, Former Director of Food and Nutrition Department, Food and Agriculture Organization, The United Nations (FAO), Mr. Yukon Limlaengthong, Honorable Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Chair of the World Food Security Board, Dr. Wanida Kamnupetch, Director of the Bureau of Agriculture for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Wisit Limluecha, President of Food Industry Group Federation of Thai Industries, including representatives of the Food Institute Ministry of Industry and representatives from the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (TIS), joined to comment and suggestion for implementing the projects
In this meeting, due to the Office of Agricultural Advisory in Rome had a memorandum submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to inform relevant agencies and consider bringing to the Prime Minister. The results of the Pre-Summit meeting and the schedule for the Food System Leaders Meeting will be on September 23, 2021, at the United Nations Headquarters, New York City, USA. The country's leaders will jointly declare their intentions, presenting the country's action plan to change the food system and joining network partners at the meeting. To clarify the progress of the Thai food system research project that ARDA supports to the relevant agencies for acknowledgment and consider bringing useful preliminary information from such research plans to be used as information for the next Food System Summit 2021 Dialogues.
